As the weather gets hotter, more people are migrating outside to enjoy the sunshine. If you are not naturally green-fingered, then you might have let your outdoor space get a little overgrown and overrun. Making the most out of your garden doesn’t have to take too much time or cost the earth. This guide is here to help you learn some simple tricks that can help you to make the most out of your garden this summer.

1. Throw A Wildflower Bomb

If you want to get a bit more life into your garden but don’t have the time or the motivation to start seriously gardening, you might want to consider throwing a wildflower bomb. A wildflower bomb is not quite as explosive as it sounds. It is essentially a mixture of different wildflower seeds. What is so great about wildflowers is that they do not require too much time or attention, so you can sprinkle the seeds and wait for them to bloom.

Not only will introducing wildflowers into your garden help you to make the area look more beautiful and inviting, but it is also good for the environment. Studies have found that wildflowers provide critical habitats for pollinators, beneficial insects, and other wildlife. This means that you play an important role in your local ecosystem by planting wildflowers.

2. Freshen Up Your Garden Furniture

When you are looking for ways to make the most out of your garden space, you might want to consider the state of your garden furniture. If your garden furniture looks a little bit worse for wear, you should not feel like you need to rush out to the shops immediately. Since garden furniture lives outside, it is more prone to natural wear and tear. Putting a fresh coat on your garden furniture can be a quick and inexpensive way of making the area look more inviting.

3. Think About Your Planting Scheme

When you want to make the most out of your outdoor space, you will want to ensure it looks beautiful all year round. Taking the time to create a strategy with your planting scheme to ensure you are able to admire the plants all year round can be hugely effective.

4. Resurface Areas

How inviting your outdoor space is might depend on the quality of the ground you are working with. Do you have a natural grass garden floor, or do you have paving stones? When considering updating the flooring in your garden, it is worth considering what time you wish to dedicate to maintaining your garden. While grass might make the area more inviting for summer it does take some maintenance as you will need to mow and care for it. If you are after a more natural look but do not have the time to maintain a natural grass garden, then you might want to consider putting in some artificial grass.

5. Try Vertical Gardening

If you want to make the most out of your space to make your back garden a paradise of green, then you might want to try vertical gardening. You can add some arches, wigwams, or an obelisk and plant creepers to grow vertically. Vertical gardening can help to make your garden feel a bit more magical while also providing more shade and privacy.

6. Add A Vegetable Garden

Adding a small space where you can grow your herbs and vegetables is another great way to get some extra value from your outdoor space. While the idea of starting a vegetable garden might sound intimidating, it can actually be a very seamless way for beginners to start gardening.

7. Add Some Light

When it comes to making the most out of your outdoor space, you will want to consider how you can enjoy the garden during the day and at night. You should consider putting in some lighting features to ensure you can make the most out of your garden space in the evenings. Choosing solar-powered garden lights can be a great eco-friendly option that means you don’t have to think about power cables or batteries.

8. Make The Space Comfortable

Just because you are outside, there are no reasons why you should also be comfortable. Adding in some soft furnishings for your outdoor space is a great way to make that area more inviting and comfortable so you can enjoy lounging around outside as much as you do indoors.

9. Add In a Bird Feeder

Making the most out of your outdoor space can mean different things to different people. If you are an animal or nature lover, then you might want to consider adding a bird feeder to encourage more wildlife to your garden.

10. Add Window Boxes

If you only have a small area of outdoor space but want to add some more nature and greenery, then window boxes might be the perfect solution. When looking at what plants to use for window boxes, it is a good idea to choose plants that do not require much space to grow.
