Are pigeons driving you mad? Looking for a more bird-friendly way to remove them from your residential home or commercial property?

If yes, then the below five natural remedies to get rid of pigeons are just exactly what you need.

Why do you need to remove pigeons from your home?

y’s well being.

Nests, feathers and droppings of pigeons all carry harmful fungal materials that can lead to serious health problems such as:

  • Histoplasmosis
  • Cryptococcosis
  • Candidiasis
  • Psittacosis

All of these can cause serious health issues and can even become fatal if not treated in a timely and proper manner.

How to get rid of pigeons naturally

1. Honey

Honey is a store cupboard staple in many UK households and this tasty breakfast item offers a highly effective solution for getting rid of pigeons.

To use honey to deter pigeons, spread it evenly on any surfaces where pigeons are prone to roosting and its natural sticky nature will stop them from landing and from choosing your property as their place to sit.

2. Pepper

Another item that most people already have in the kitchen, pepper powder can make surfaces uncomfortable for pigeons and make them less likely to land on your home.

To use pepper to deter pigeons, simply sprinkle liberally on your roof and ledges and then sit back and watch your pigeon problem disappear.

3. Chilli

In the same way that pepper powder is an effective pigeon deterrent, chilli powder is another effective natural remedy.

To use chilli to deter pigeons, sprinkle it near their dwelling places.

4. Water

If you have a garden hose, then this can be used to stop them from becoming settled on your property.

To use water to deter pigeons, apply water pressure the first day that you notice pigeons on your roof and keep spraying them daily until they leave and do not come back.

5. Pigeon control

If you have tried all of the above with little success, then you might want to hire a bird removal company who have lots of different techniques at their disposal to remove pigeons including natural ones that do not harm them.

Other ways to remove pigeons:

If you want to try everything and anything to get rid of the pigeons on your roof, then the below tips and tricks should be of use:

  • Make the roosting space less appealing: This can be done by installing spikes or reflective strips on your rooftop and any window ledges.
  • Seal off entrances: Pigeons love to make nests so it can be a good idea to seal off any places where they can potentially make a nest.
  • Scare them away: Pigeons are scared of many things including water and birds of prey. Try using a garden hose to scare them off or invest in a scare pigeon.
