How to Create Vintage Vibes in a New Home

There are lots of practical reasons to buy a new home. They tend to be more structurally sound than older properties, and ready to live in without having to spend a ton of money on renovations. While this is really appealing to a lot of buyers, some may miss the vibe of something vintage. If you want to put some classic touches on a newly built property, this post explores what can be done.

Crown Moulding

Crown moulding is the perfect way to take any room from modern times to the olden days, and if you get the design right, everything will look stunning. This is a fantastic option for both living rooms and bedrooms and will enhance any area in a way that looks undeniably period-esque.

Wooden Beams

If you want to take things one step further, why not install some wooden beams onto the ceiling? This whole look speaks to the inner cottage fantasy that so many homeowners have and will not just look the part, but it is also easier to install and source than you may think.

Stand Out Floor Accessories

Regardless of whether you have carpet, tile, wood, laminate, or vinyl, every room in your house will benefit from floor accessories. That Rebel House has a range of large vintage rugs that are arguably perfect for this journey. By investing in a few vintage rugs, you can transform a whole space from modern to something a little more old-timey in a classic way that doesn’t compromise the room.

Change the Lighting

A lot of old homes favoured wall lighting as opposed to bright, overhead ceiling installations. There are thousands of light products out there ready and waiting for you to discover, any of which will take your home back in time. Replacing the ceiling light with some softer wall features serves to create a vintage vibe and will work well in bedrooms or hallways.

Wall Panelling

It is incredibly easy to install wall panelling DIY style, so this option doesn’t have to cost a ton of money. This is great for people who are working with a more restrictive budget and tends to look impressive regardless of where it is placed. Panelled walls look authentic in dining spaces and hallways, but they can also find a home in bathrooms or even kitchens.

Look at the Small Details

When you walk around your home, what do you see? If it is a newer build property, there is a strong chance that there are a lot of silver door handles and polished chrome knocking around. Well, this is a great area to make some vintage changes. Everything from the taps to the drawer knobs can and should be replaced with older styles so that when you look from room to room, the small features are completing the whole look as opposed to ruining it.

So, as shown above, it is easy to make your new home feel vintage. By concentrating on transforming key spaces and never forgetting the small details, it is possible to get the look and feel you desire most.
