5 Factors that Could Lead to a Pest Infestation

By Voucherix-C Leave a Comment

Pest infestation is the invasion, colonization, or spread of species of animals or plants regarded by humans as undesirable. Many pest infestations can cause great harm to people and ecosystems.

In many cases, the physical evidence of an infestation is visible to everyone. In other cases, there may be no physical evidence of an infestation. There are also some types of pest infestation without any physical signs, which is why you need to call a professional for solving your pest control issues.

Here are some of the main causes or contributing factors to consider if you have a pest infestation on your property.

1. Poor Sanitation

One factor that can lead to an infestation is poor sanitation. If there is garbage or food left out, it can attract pests. It is recommended to clean the yard regularly and dispose of garbage properly.

Keeping your property clean and well-cared for will discourage pests from settling in and reduce the likelihood of a pest infestation.

2. Clutter and Poor Maintenance

If there is a lot of stuff around, it can provide places for pests to hide and nest. You may want to re-evaluate the amount of clutter you have.

Doors and broken windows can provide entry points for pests to your property. This is also a factor if the screen doors are torn but have not been repaired.

You may want to check all of your doors and windows regularly to make sure they aren’t broken or damaged, and repair them as quickly as possible if they are. Regular maintenance will allow you to spot any problems such as termites or rats and get on top of them before they become an issue.

3. Lack of Pest Control

If you don’t have a regular pest control program like proactive pest management techniques from professional pest control services such as Your Pest Assassin, you may be more likely to have an infestation. Pests such as termites, mosquitoes, and rats are always present in the environment and can make your property a home.

As soon as you notice a pest infestation, you will want to contact a professional such as Shield pest control to get on top of it as soon as possible. A pest control professional should have the experience and know-how to quickly solve your pest infestation issue.

You can also hire someone to regularly check the property and treat it proactively to prevent pests from taking up residence.

4. Weather

Certain weather conditions can also lead to an increased risk of infestation. For example, warm and humid weather can be ideal for certain pests, such as mosquitoes. This is the perfect climate for them to breed, so they may be more likely to become a pest issue. Environments with a lot of moisture can also lead to problems with pests such as termites.

An increase in precipitation can cause mold, drainage problems, and allow dirt and debris into your property, where pests thrive.

Water sources like puddles attract pests such as mosquitoes. Pest infestation is also a problem during winter because of the reduced humidity and cold temperatures, making it difficult for pests to survive and reproduce outside so they seek warmer homes.

5. Poor Air Flow

If your house doesn’t have any air circulation and there isn’t a way to open windows, it will be harder for pests to keep out of the property. Poor air circulation leads to microclimates around your rooms – the overall humidity or temperature of your house may not be suitable to pests, but one particular corner could be. If you have pests return to particular areas of your house then investigate the microclimate.
