Why is synthetic CBD the next big thing?

By Voucherix-C Leave a Comment

You may or may not be aware that your morning vitamin C tablet does not originate from a lemon grove on some sunny Sicilian hillside. But do all consumers know that their ‘natural’ supplements come from a chemical plant, not a natural plant? And if those are safe, effective and cheap, do they care?

In this way, many naturally occurring chemical compounds, including ascorbic acid, can be produced far more efficiently. The chemically grown are at a potentially lower cost than their natural equivalents. CBD, derived from the plant Cannabis plant or hemp, has become a rage in recent days & has many therapeutic properties.

To grow Cannabis at scale is more of an agricultural than a scientific endeavour. Small environmental variations can give rise to large differences in plant quality, purity, and cannabinoid yield. Hemp is also effective at absorbing lead, cadmium, and nickel from the soil, which is great for the environment, not for consumption.

Synthesis is currently the only option to meet the strict European requirements on cosmetics ingredients. This is because they don’t permit origin material that is illegal in any member state or to meet specific institutional requirements.

Different forms of CBD

Recreational Synthetic

Due to all the legal obligations going around Cannabis, this synthetic form came into the picture. However, they are the altered versions of existing Cannabis compounds, so there are no legality issues. Most importantly, none of the products will get you high. But, as these synthetic products are largely not put to the test, their side effects are often severe than the natural ones.

Despite this, natural ones have been illegal in the UK since 2016, though it was more easily available than marijuana once upon a time. The synthetic one is an emulation of an existing cannabinoid rather than an alteration. Moreover, as their legal highs, the production happens with health and safety practices.

Medicinal synthetic

Not all synthetic ones are cultivated to replicate the psychoactive properties of marijuana. For example, currently, one of the most popular synthetic cannabinoids is an equivalent of THC. That cannabinoid went through rigorous testing, and the FDA made it legal in 2006. Thus, it proves that proper processing of synthetic cannabinoids can give positive results.

There are quite a few benefits of CBDistillery products. Though drug manufacturers can extract cannabinoids from the hemp plant, they highly prefer using synthetic one. Soon synthetic ones are going to replace natural ones.

1. Synthetic hemp is cheaper.

It is easier, cheaper and faster to produce synthetically. In addition, cannabinoids like CBG and THCV only exist in cannabis plants in very small quantities. Thus, extracting them is a bit expensive when compared to the other cannabinoids like CBD and THC. This is why creating them in the lab synthetically is a better idea.

2. Easier to obtain

Minor cannabinoids are getting popular every day as more research happens and legalization eases. As their demands are rising, a stable source of hemp will be good for research. Moreover, if there is a lab to continue these researches, it will be much more reliable. This plant alone has more than 100 cannabinoids.

Although CBD and THC can easily be extracted, they are very rare, and you can’t find them right now. The cost of creating the cannabinoids in the lab will be the same regardless of what you are creating.

3. Can be with other supplements.

In the laboratory, it has more room for innovation. The cannabis plant exists for so long but doesn’t have a patent, but the synthetic one can be mixed with another product. The new invention then can get a patent and a perfect way to make a profit in the medical field.

Research is still going on about synthetic CBD to make one with lesser side effects. Consult your doctor before self-medicating with the synthetic one.
