Since hitting the casino scene in the 1700s, Roulette has well and truly spun its way through the centuries, becoming known as a casino classic by many players today and in times gone by.
This game of chance and prediction has come under speculation by some, since its birth, as to whether or not there’s a way to cheat the system, and the wheel, to reap all the winnings with the simple use of a strategy.
With many casino games for UK players at Griffon Casino to select from, with both live and computer-generated Roulette, we wanted to look closer at some of the many strategies out there that some believe to be the key to winning a game of Roulette.

Martingale Strategy
The Martingale is said to be the most popular of strategies amongst players, despite many thinking otherwise.
For the Martingale to work, you’re required to double your wager value each time you spin the wheel, whether you won or lost your previous game. This can soon add up to a rather large sum, so we advise you to only try this if you have the bankroll to do so.
It’s said, the most effective way to play the Martingale Strategy, is to only place outside even money bets – these are bets such as Red / Black, Low / High, and Odd / Even, as these offer a payout of 1:1, yet carry a just below 50% chance of winning.
The 1:1 odds mean you’ll win the same amount you wager, back, if you win.
Many players describe this strategy as a ‘betting big to win small’ system.
D’Alembert System
Just like the Martingale Strategy, the D’Alembert System is based on wagering on even money areas of the Roulette table.
This system consists of ever-changing wagering values with each spin of the wheel. However, unlike the Martingale, the wagering requirements fluctuate up and down, depending on how your previous game played out.
What’s meant by this is, if you won your previous game, you decrease your wager for the next game. If, however, you lost your last game, your wager value increases. An example of this is as follows:
- You begin with a 1.00 credit wager.
- You lose your game.
- Your wager for the next game consists of a wager of 2.00 credits.
- You lose your game again.
- Your wager increased to 3.00 credits for the next game.
- You win your game.
- Your wager decreases back to 2.00 credits for the next game.
It’s said that many players prefer this strategy over most, as it’s easier to keep a handle on their losses and wins.

These are just two of the many strategies and systems out there that players believe to be the key to their success. However, no strategy or system is guaranteed to bring you good fortune or endless wins, as Roulette is, and always will be a game of chance and prediction.
But, if you’re wanting to give any of the strategies out there a go, remember to only bet what you can afford to potentially lose.
