Never Struggle to Decide What to Wear Ever Again with These Practical Tips

It’s a struggle so many people face every day when tasked with the need to get dressed and go outside. Staring at a full wardrobe without a single idea as to what you should wear. Although this is a common phenomenon, it still baffles many of its sufferers due to the paradoxical nature of the problem. Surely if you have many clothes to choose from it should be easy to find something to wear? Anyone who has been in this situation will know how untrue that is. These tips will help you avoid finding yourself at a loss when it comes to picking an outfit.

Declutter Your Unworn Clothes and Accessories

The first step is not a pretty one. It involves taking the time to empty all your clothes, shoes, and accessories so you can see them all. This includes any items you have stored away under the bed or in another room. Give yourself time to go through each item and decide whether or not to keep it. A good rule of thumb is that if you haven’t worn it for a whole year, chances are you won’t wear it in the future. Plus, someone else might get more use out of it.

Invest in Timeless Styles and Lasting Fabrics

When you are ready to reconstruct your wardrobe, opt for clothing that doesn’t adhere too closely to fleeting trends. Unless you are in love with a particular style and can see yourself wearing it for years to come, avoid falling into the fast fashion trap. Instead, choose items that are made to a high standard and will last for many years.

Know What Your Options Are

When you can see what you own it is far easier to make smart outfit choices. If everything is cluttered and untidy then it’s no wonder you struggle to imagine a coherent outfit. Seize this opportunity to improve the functionality of your dressing room and divide your clothing into sections so you feel less overwhelmed when getting dressed each day.

Create Go-To Outfits for Specific Occasions and Climates

If you live in a warm and consistent climate, do you need to keep that puffy coat? Only make space in your wardrobe for pieces you will wear to avoid being distracted when creating your daily outfits. Another useful tactic is to spend a day or two trying on your clothes and putting together some go-to outfits that you can wear in a pinch without having to make any difficult or bold fashion decisions.

Build a Personal Uniform

Unlike a work or school uniform, a personal uniform can make life more enjoyable and less restrictive. When you have a clear idea of what your personal style looks like, you can build a wardrobe that becomes something of a consistent look. For example, if you love wearing dresses then invest in ones you will wear all the time. Ignore the style rules and coordinate your clothing based on your taste and creativity.
