When it comes to thinking about your wedding day you probably have lots of different dream-like scenarios in your head. And you probably have the vision that all of these dream-like scenarios will be captured by your wedding photographer.
But when the day comes around, it can actually be quite hard to consistently remember photos and remember specifically what photos you wanted.
There are also lots of moments that you might not think of as being amazing photos and then regret that you don’t have them later.
Feeling a bit stressed now?
Don’t!
We have a handy list for you in this blog to help you out with this whole wedding photography business.
We’ve created a list of what we think are the very best wedding photographs to get so you can ask your photographer for them in advance.
Weddings are always about planning and pre-planning, and we’ve got you covered for that today.
Let’s get into that list of photos, shall we?
Getting ready photos
The getting ready part of your wedding day is filled to the brim with nerves, excitement and amazing memories to cherish forever. It is such an important part of the wedding day even if it is technically the “before” part.
Make sure to ask your photographer to come to your house and your partner’s house (or hotel rooms or wherever you are getting ready) to take photos of the getting ready process before you actually get to your wedding venue.
You will get some funny shots, some serious shots, and overall you will capture an unforgettable part of your day.
First Looks
This is something that has become more of a trend in recent years and it is a trend that I can absolutely get on board with.
Asking your photographer to be there to take photos of a private moment of you and your partner seeing eachother for the first time is a beautiful way to capture such an important moment.
If you don’t want to spoil the surprise of seeing your partner before they walk up the aisle that is ok too, you can simply ask your wedding photographer to capture the moment when your spouse first sees you coming up the aisle instead.
Either way, you will end up with photos that really tell a story of love, excitement, and a monumental day.
Parents alone
This is definitely one that we might forget about or not think about automatically.
We of course get pictures of our parents with the whole bridal party, with the bride and groom, and in group photos, but how many of us remember to get photos of our parents by themselves or in their couples on our wedding day?
It might not sound like a big deal but these photos are amazing things to have in years to come.
Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but our parents won’t always be around, and it is so great to have these memories of them down the line that we can frame, display, and cherish.
Hey, they also might want them printed and put up in their own house too, maybe they know they look good and want to remember it too!
Arrival shots
If they can, try and get your photographer to take pictures of all of your guests arriving at your wedding venue.
You can capture so much excitement in these photos and it will be great for you and your partner to see after because it will be something you might not have seen on the day.
Capturing all these behind the scenes moments will be the best way to create the most significant and memorable wedding album possible.
It’s also always just great to see all your friends and family together in one room.
Action shots
On a similar note, make sure that your photographer knows to take photos of all the fun and action consistently throughout the day.
Posed and set photos are great but it’s also great to have natural, candid photos of everyone immersed in the day and really enjoying themselves.
When people aren’t looking you can sometimes catch the sweetest photograph of them.
These photos will be amazing for you and your guests to look back on and you will be so glad you have them.
Dancing shots
Finally, make sure you are getting photos of everybody’s dance moves.
There really is nothing funnier or more heartwarming than photos of your friends and family breaking down at your wedding party and having the time of your life.
If you get these photos and the rest we talked about here today, I guarantee your wedding album will be well-worn over the years from you constantly looking back and loving these pictures.
It’s the most important day of your life, you’ve gotta remember every moment of it!
