Less is more
Over-packing is not always a good thing, and having too many items can actually add to the stressor nerves you may already be feeling. We suggest starting with these essentials, and change any specifics along the way as you see fit and suited to you.
- Swimwear
There are plenty of amenities and facilities to enjoy and you can be sure that saunas and hot tubs are involved. You want to take at least 2 sets of swimwear so you have a dry one on hand when you need for dining or wearing under your robe.
- Underwear
Treatment rooms do provide paper underwear so you aren’t fully exposed or you are welcome to wear your own underwear to feel more comfortable. Be warned that certain treatments involve oils and could soak into underwear, so either don’t wear precious, expensive undies or opt for a cheap pair you don’t mind throwing away after. Especially if it is a mud wrap.
- Flip flops
A big ticket item you do not want to leave behind. There is nothing worse than walking out the showers and having nothing on your feet to walk to your room with. Flip flops are also perfect for poolside.
- Make up
A quick touch up before heading to the restaurant will make you feel put together and not completely bare-faced as you stroll the halls. You don’t need anything extreme or full face, but a lick of mascara and some blush can go a long way.
- Hair care
Hairbands, bandanas, and hairclips will be your saving grace. They help keep your hair up and out of your face after the pool (throw in a hairbrush too so you can tame your wet locks) or are perfect for keep stray hairs at bay while having a treatment or facial.
- Workout clothes
This is not something every person considers taking when heading to the spa, but a Pilates or hot yoga class is great for detoxing and releasing endorphins so appropriate attire is a must.
- Toiletries
Like hotels, spas do have the basics on hand, but if you prefer your own brands of shampoo or conditioner, or have a skincare routine with specific products custom to your skin, feel free to pop them in for a welcomed refresh.
- Relaxed clothing
It sounds obvious but many people forget this step. Lounging around public spaces drinking cucumber water doesn’t have to always be in a robe where you constantly have to think about not revealing too much. Pack a soft top and bottoms set that is easy to throw on and comfortable to move around in.
Detox on all levels
Heading to the spa is a day for switching off from the world. Consider putting your phone on silent and forwarding emails till later can help add to the overall experience of relaxation. Now all you need to do is book that day of self-care and embrace the rejuvenation.
