Benefits of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Benefit 1: Support

CBT is great for persons who have mental disorders as it provides an excellent support network for recovery. Due to the fact that it is action based, it gives patients comfort as there is always someone that can help them. Once they know that they have someone to rely on and help them with recovery, this can help them to change undesirable behaviors.

Benefit 2: Improves self esteem

The main root of many people’s disorders is low self esteem. CBT at Clarity Clinic can help to address this as it actually increases self esteem by helping patients to work through their problems and find solutions. Then, as patients do this, they will start to believe in themselves and this will help them to improve their condition.

Benefit 3: Improves positive thoughts

There are many people with mental disorders that have negative thoughts and ways of thinking that take over their lives. Unfortunately, many patients have negative thoughts automatically. With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, patients can learn how to change their negative thought patterns into positive ones.

With CBT, this therapy helps patients to deal with their issues that are causing anger and other related emotions. It is certainly quite difficult to have a good relationship when dealing with social anxiety, addiction, depression etc. CBT can help by teaching patients how they can better communicate how they feel with other persons without feelings of shame and anger.

Benefit 6: Better coping skills

One of the reasons why many disorders occur is due to persons being unable to deal with stressful situations. CBT helps these patients to have a way to deal with these situations and emotions. They are given an avenue to express their emotions so that they don’t remain bottled up.

Benefit 7: Prevents Relapse

Unfortunately, most people who have mental disorders typically relapse. CBT provides these persons with the correct tools that help to prevent relapses from occurring. It helps patients to develop coping methods and avoid negative thought patterns.
