How to Choose Your Wedding Day Menu?

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, and all couples want their special day to be perfect. Although you are excited to exchange your vows in front of your nearest and dearest, wedding planning doesn’t come without challenges and can be a stressful experience at times. From picking the perfect venue to finding your dream wedding attire and choosing a band or DJ, there is a lot to organize!

Another key component to any beautiful wedding is the choice of food you will be serving to your guests. Here are some helpful hints to keep in mind if you are at the point in your wedding planning process of deciding what your wedding menu will be.

1. Sticking to Your Budget

Weddings can get very expensive, and food can be one of the pricier aspects of your big day. As such, it is important to determine how much of your wedding budget you are willing to spend on refreshments and have this number in mind when you start looking at catering options.

Your chosen venue might offer food and drink packages as part of the deal, so enquire about this to see what they can do for you. If you are going to hire an external catering service, make sure you get several quotes to help you find the right company for your budget.

2. Allergens and Other Dietary Requirements

You must speak to your guests and request that they let you know about any food allergies or dietary requirements they have before you start designing your wedding menu with the caterers. This way you can make sure that there is something delicious for everyone to enjoy and that there will be no bad reactions to the food served.

A good way to go about doing this is to send these dietary information requests out with your wedding invitations as part of the RSVP requirements.

3. Canapes and Champagne

The main meals are likely to be served in the evening, but you will still need to provide your guests with something to satisfy their hunger earlier in the day. Serving some canapes with champagne or cocktails an hour or two before the main meal is a good idea, especially when there is alcohol involved! You can read this guide to understanding canapes for further tips on what to serve at this time.

4. How Does the Food Fit the Theme?

When choosing your wedding menu, it’s a good idea to think about how these dishes will fit in with the overall theme of your wedding. For example, if you are going for a laid-back, festival-style wedding, hiring some food truck vendors will fit with this aesthetic perfectly.

On the other hand, if you want a more formal affair, a three-course meal will be more appropriate. You should also think about choosing dishes that will be popular with your particular wedding guests so that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
