Princess Diana’s Timeless Style: Take a closer look at Princess Diana’s refined style, which has managed to gracefully reflect her strong character, transforming her into a timeless fashion icon.

Princess Diana’s Timeless Style

Princess Diana was one of the rare names who managed to reflect her strong character with grace. Shyness, which has begun to lose its meaning today, has become the signature of the Princess of Wales as much as her sincere smile. His natural demeanor sowed the first seeds of love that settled in the hearts of the people; “I want to be the queen in people’s hearts, not the queen of a country.” Her sentence proved how sensitive she was, however, her refined tastes along with her character managed to transform her not only into a world-famous princess, but also into a timeless fashion icon.

As strange as it sounds now, Princess Diana wasn’t very interested in fashion when she got engaged to Prince Charles. In 1981 St. Princess Diana, who unwittingly opened the doors of the fashion world while walking in the corridor of St. Paul’s Cathedral with her wedding dress and 7.5-meter veil designed by David & Elizabeth Emanuel, was an inspiration to millions of brides.

Having an innate talent, he was able to let his Royal advisers guide him for a short time. As his knowledge and experience increased, he managed to break the strict protocol rules with his own elegant and bold moves.

But Diana, who was adept at using her wardrobe in a diplomatic way, loved to use colors and symbols associated with national identities. For her, the pieces she preferred in her style were a form of showing support and respect. For example, on his first visit to Wales, he wore a green and red silk suit representing Wales. Likewise, she chose a dress by Japanese designer Yuki Torimaru for her royal tour during her visit to Japan and Chanel for her Paris trip. During her visit to the Gulf region in 1986, she wore a dress embellished with golden falcons, one of the patriotic symbols of Saudi Arabia.

Expanding the border areas from sparkling evening dresses to eye-catching patterns, Princess Diana was able to skillfully adapt her personal tastes to the royal line. The extra care he showed in the selection of accessories, on the other hand, carried his simplest choice to a completely different dimension.

While sunglasses and hats had an assertive place in this area, the choice of jewelry was also of particular importance. Princess Diana, who used necklaces specially designed for the back décolleté, was brave and creative enough to use a necklace gifted to her by Queen Elizabeth as a crown.

However, among all this colorful fashion adventure, a single black dress made a strong entry that overshadowed everything else and went down in history as the “Revenge Dress”. After three years waiting in Princess Diana’s closet because the black dress by Christina Stambolian was “too daring”, it came to light at the Serpentine Gallery invitation.

Princess Diana, who was originally planned to wear another dress, even prevented her from making the newspaper headlines the next day by stealing a role with dignity from Prince Charles, who admitted that she had cheated on him the same night with this strategic move. This lesson, which taught that her little black dresses should never be taken lightly, became one of the most important details in Princess Diana’s style journey.

Being a fashion inspirational person may seem easy; but making it timeless requires style. One of the most important rules of being stylish is knowing how to maintain your attitude. Despite her rapidly changing environment, Princess Diana was one of those strong women who could adapt to this situation, improve herself without getting away from herself, and did not compromise her attitude while changing her style.

Princess Diana, beyond paying homage to the countries she visited, as we mentioned earlier, also used fashion to highlight them by wearing the special clothes of the event organizations or nations at polo matches or public events.

Maybe that’s why being inspired by the style of a princess who says, “I never live my life by the book, my heart guides me, not my mind,” will always be more meaningful than temporary fashion icons. It means you have a story.
