A student has many things on their plate and sometimes balancing everything can be overwhelming. A student like any person has to play different roles and these include but are not limited to the role of a student, child, classmate, partner and friend. When the personal life and the academic life is not balanced efficiently, it can result in a conflict between the different roles. Therefore, striving for a balance between academic and personal life is important and here is how you can strike a balance between the two.

1. Create a schedule to play your time

It is impossible to strike a balance between academic life and personal life without proper planning as it can result in a time crunch. With the help of a schedule, you can plan your study time, socializing time and other times. For instance, if you are preparing for Government Jobs, allot some uninterrupted time in the morning to focus on your study, you can schedule some physical activities during the evening time.

2. Do not procrastinate

A genius is someone who completes their work even when they do not want to. Procrastinating for no apparent reason will only result in piling of work which can disrupt the entire balance between academic and personal life and it further adds stress. Stick to your schedule and give your best to complete the to-do list that you have created for yourself.

3. Avoid distraction

Getting distracted by a smartphone or the internet is pretty easy and it can delay the task at hand. Therefore, dedicate some time to engage in such a sort of guilty pleasure, so that you can focus well without distraction on other important things at hand. For instance, while studying, you might have the urge to check the Sarkari Result of an exam that you gave, avoid such distraction and dedicate a proper time to engage in such activities. While working, you can place your smartphone behind the laptop to avoid distraction.

4. Stay away from stress

A little bit of stress is good as it can work as a great motivating tool to work harder. However, too much stress is bad for the body and it can result in anxiety, moodiness and other physical and emotional stress. To stay away from stress, exercise everything and engage your body in activities that can be helpful for providing it with some sort of relaxation.

5. Do not aim to become a perfectionist

Perfection is an illusion and aiming for it is good if it helps you to give your best but one needs to ensure that they do not aim to be a perfectionist. A perfectionist attitude can result in low self-esteem, depression, guilt, procrastination and lack of motivation. Instead of being a perfectionist, have high standards that are achievable.

6. Stay in the present

Not just a student, but everyone should practice mindfulness. If you are studying, study. If you are socializing, simply socialize without thinking about any project or assignment. Stay focused on the task on your hand and enjoy it fully. Be where you are.

7. Learn to say ‘no’

Saying no at times is difficult because it is not encouraged by society but at some point in life, it is important to say no to reduce the burden of working on things that you do not really want to and this holds true for all the context. If a friend is asking you to do an assignment on their behalf, say no if you do not want to do it. Similarly, if you have been invited to a family party but it will interrupt your schedule and you do not want to attend it for the same reason, decline the invitation. Setting priorities will make it easier to say no to the unessential things in life.

8. Avoid multitasking

Multi-tasking gives a false illusion of enhanced productivity but the truth is that multi-tasking consumes plenty of energy and further, all the individual tasks take more than usual time to be completed. Instead of multi-tasking, work on one task, complete it and then switch to another task.

9. Take a day-off

Working day in and day out will tire you and you will find yourself stuck in the boredom of life. Take a day off every week to replenish yourself. Taking a day off does not mean that you are decreasing your productivity, it simply means that you are resting your mental and physical parts of the body so that you can bounce back stronger with more energy.

10. Know when to seek help

Lastly, you should know when to seek help. Not everything can be managed on your own and when you feel too overwhelmed, just seek help from someone. Tired of fighting a tough question in an assignment? Feel free to seek help from your friend or professor and this same holds true in personal life too. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness but is in fact a strength that indicates that you refuse to give up.
