Let’s talk about cars or, more specifically, their repairs. Aren’t they a thorn in your side? Did you know that a household spends around $16,912 on two cars? From servicing to changing tyres, fuel, toll costs and road assistance, the total amount that a car owner pays weekly is $160. This does not include car insurance. You can imagine the savings alone you would have to keep aside for car emergencies.

This is why car repairs are a nuisance! They always occur at the worst times and screw up your carefully planned budget. However, driving your car is a necessity. Whether you are going to the office, dropping your kids at school, running grocery errands or going shopping, having a car offers you the ease to drive anywhere and anytime you want. So, why is it that we dread repairs?

The toll of car repairs on your budget

Imagine driving your car to a restaurant for dinner with your wife. Suddenly you hear sputtering sounds, and then the car stops. You open the hood, and smoke wafts in your face. You check the parts that might have caused the breakdown, but the car still doesn’t start. You end up calling roadside assistance and paying $100 for the vehicle to be towed to a mechanic. After inspection, the mechanic says that the battery has expired and needs to be replaced. That’s a couple of hundred dollars out of your pocket, which you don’t have in the first place. Then there are cosmetic repairs that allow you to keep your car in good shape.

A personal loan comes in handy in such a situation, and you can easily apply online through lenders such as C1 Car Loans. If you plan to sell your car, then perhaps taking out a loan makes sense and will be worth the maintenance cost.

Following are five cheap cosmetic vehicle repairs that you can finance with a loan:

Repair #1

Cracked or chipped glass

  • Door Windows: $400
  • Front Windscreen: $800 to $1,000
  • Back Windscreen: $500

Cracks and chips happen anytime while you are driving. Whether caused by flying rocks or a dead bird, a crack can quickly spread and compromise the entire glass. While repairing cracked glass allows you to save some dollars, but there’s no saying whether it will remain intact or not.

Hence, it is better to get the glass replaced. The bigger the surface, the costlier the repair will be. If the damage was not your fault, ask your auto insurance provider to cover the cost.

Repair #2

Rust

  • A Part of a Vehicle: $500
  • Full Rust Removal: $3,000

When your car is exposed to oxygen and water simultaneously, it starts to rust. This exposure makes the metal weaker, and the salt from the air or surroundings can expedite the process. Hence, you can see your car from looking completely fine to looking like scrap metal from the junkyard once winter arrives.

Rust spreads like wildfire so, the moment you see the slightest tinge of red-brown on your car, take it to a rust removal expert. Once you get your car back in good shape, make sure to park it under the shade and protect it with a car cover.

Repair #3

Chipped or scratched paint

  • Repairing Chipped Paint: $150 to $250
  • Full Paint: $1,500 to $3,500

This is one of the costliest cosmetic repairs and should be financed through C1 Car Loans. Chipped paint and scratches on your car can make it look quite unattractive. Moreover, such damage decreases your car’s overall value. Hence, we recommend you get chipped paint fixed immediately because the damage might become more serious and costly over time.

Repair #4

Scratches

  • Deep Scratch: $450 to $700
  • Significant Dent (Car Door): $200 to $400
  • Dented Rear (Trunk): $500 to $800
  • Entire Side: $600 to $1200

Nowadays, you can find dozens of chemical sprays at auto repair shops that claim they can remove scratches in a single swipe. This claim might be true for some small scratches like the ones caused by a key. However, when it comes to scratches caused by other cars, you need to spend a lot of money to get the damage fixed.

Repair #5

Dings or dents

  • Small Dings: $75 to $125
  • Large Dings: $150 to $240

Even the smallest ding can minimize the value of your car. Getting these small dents removed is one of the cheapest repairs that professionals can do in a few hours. It’s important to get dings immediately checked and repaired because they might look small on the surface but can impact the internal parts and cause extensive damage.

These repairs can be done under $5,000 to $8,000, depending on the type of car you drive and how big the damage is.
